Description:
The Greenhouse Grower is responsible for providing horticultural expertise and guidance to support the propagation, cultivation, and care of plants in a greenhouse environment. Working closely with the Coordinator, this position ensures plants are maintained at optimal health throughout the growing cycle and are prepared for sale during peak seasons.
The Greenhouse Grower develops and implements growing schedules, monitors plant health, and applies best practices to maximize quality and productivity. This role identifies production challenges, implements appropriate corrective actions, and ensures production targets are met according to established quality standards and timelines. The successful candidate is committed to delivering high-quality products and exceptional customer service.
Skills Required:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Two Year Diploma in Horticulture or Agriculture and minimum of 1 year work experience
- Pesticide Applicator License
- Police Information Check that does not disqualify you from employment
- Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of basic office applications
Physical Demands:
- Standing, sitting, crouching, and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to perform Medium Work as per the WCB definition of physical demands: (exerting up to 22.7 Kg (50 lbs) of force occasionally and/or up to 9.1 kg (20 lbs) of force frequently and/or up to 4.5 kg (10 lbs) force constantly.
- Able to work in Greenhouse environment year-round, tolerating heat during summer months.
Interpersonal:
- Demonstrated progressive managerial experience
- Related skills in communication, organizational, interpersonal, budgeting and planning skills
Hours of Work:
- 40 wake hours per week: This is a year-round position, not a seasonal position required to work a variety of hours during the day, evenings or weekends especially during the peak season.
Salary:
- $25.97- 30.37 (Dependent on Education and Experience)
